For the battery separator manufacturers, a great number of factors must be taken into account when they are choosing the battery separators. Different types of batteries require different types of battery separators. As a result, the features of battery separators must be weighed against the requirements based on battery application. Various properties of battery separators which are important for the battery are shown as follows:

•Low Ionic resistance
•High stability in mechanical and dimensional
•High strength level allowing easy handling
•Chemical resistance to degradation caused by electrolyte, impurities and electrode reactants and battery itself.

The above lists show a wide range of requirements for battery separators. In many cases, it is impossible to find the perfect battery separator to fulfill all of those requirements excellently. So it is a must to compromise between those requirements to optimize the performance, safety, cost of the batteries. For instance, certain battery requires thin separator that can breathe, but the strength requirement for the battery need the separators to be thick enough. To provide good performance and safety, each type of battery has its own requirements. For example, for the Nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery and nickelmetal hydride (Ni-Mh) batteries, there is high requirement in gas permeability for overcharge protection. While our wetlaid nonwoven fabrics can be the ideal products for the separators for Ni-Cd battery and Ni-Mh battery.I would like to introduce the nonwoven fabrics for battery separators.
Nonwoven fabrics are made from fibers. There are various nonwoven production techniques including wet-milling, spunlace, dry-laid, air-laid. The nonwoven fabrics produced with different processes have different features. The wet-laid process is similar to the papermaking process. Our battery separators choose PP(polypropylene),PE(polyethylene) fibers as the raw material. Through our wetlaid process, our material has the features shown below:
1. Uniform fiber distribution, pretty low CD and MD strength difference, acid and alkali-resistant, high temperature wash-Resistant, breathable material, high strength. It is widely used in sulfonated separator, radiation grafting separator.
2. The material gsm can be varied from 30-60gsm.Of course; we can produce based on your own requirements.
3. Our material provides good permeability to gas molecules.
Alkaline battery separators separator is classified as carboxyl type alkaline battery separators. It adopts the wet-laid nonwoven fabrics made of ultrafine composite polyolefine fiber as the basic material. After treatment of irradiation grafting method, the separator is applied to middle, low,high rate discharge, self discharge sealed Ni-NH, Ni-Cd. It provides excellent charging ability and cycle life for battery.
